So I updated a 3rd time , but this time came up as windows 10 update , this took quite a while and a screen came on with a dial and the pc restarted 3 or 4 times. It has tried to download KB???? Then the hard reset that you did would only get you into more trouble as even less robust recovery processes were put into effect. To try to understand what that might mean I would try using winver to find out what your current build is.

My guess is that it is going to continue trying to recover from the hard reset but there will be details there somewhere to help you figure out what it is really doing. Whatever it is make sure that you give it time to finish and not put yourself into this difficult position again.
