Windows update originally reported an error 0xc, if I remember correctly, when it tried to update my system automatically.

The OS was vetting Windows 8. Computer is a Shuttle XPC with i73. If I try to use windows update now and click on \’check for updates\’ it doesn\’t find the update – it did earlier but after numerous failed installs and using different \’fixes\’ it doesn\’t find the update at all, just does a search and says I\’m up to date but at the same time says the version of windows I am using will soon not be supported.

I have also tried running sfc scannow and the three DISM commands but no change, the sfc and dism commands all report that everything is ok. I have uninstalled Kaspersy anti virus and started with a clean boot, I have disconnected extra internal hard betting, the wireless card, dvd drive, and there are no USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse attached.

All drivers are updated as well, bios is the latest also. Using a wired network to download, not wireless. I have trawled the net for answers but none of the fixes that I found, mentioned above, help me with the install, and I don\’t really want to do a clean install from a USB stick or ISO image because I will lose several pudate.
